My Story: Norma "The Queen of Swing" Miller is a famous author, choreographer, dancer, comedienne, and actress.
She is also known to the Lindy Community for being a part of the famous troupe Whitey's Lindy Hoppers from the young age of 14 years, though her stories go back even farther when "Twistmouth" George Ganaway took a young 12 year old Norma from outside the Savoy Ballroom to be his partner in a dance contest that night (and they won first place!)
Today, Norma continues to tirelessly spread her love of Lindy Hop and show business. She makes frequent stops at Lindy events, just completed a documentary "The Queen of Swing", and is currently working on her third and fourth books.
And finally, Norma is always one to tell it like it is and she never holds back. Ask her plenty of questions about the old days if you get a chance and you will get an honest (and maybe slightly embellished) answer. In the meantime, I also highly recommend her first book: "Swingin' at the Savoy: The Memoir of a Jazz Dancer". She writes in that same no-holds-barred style which makes for some interesting reading.
Norma turns 90 years young this year on December 2, 2009.
