My Story: I seem to have periods where I go on hiatus and stop dancing for awhile, and then something prompts me to go back out dancing. Then I shake my fist at how good everybody is now, and how I would be good too if I hadn't stopped dancing in the first place! I first got into Lindy Hop when I was in high school. We started a swing club and taught lessons to fellow students. Then I had my first hiatus where I stopped going out social dancing. I focused more on doing community theatre shows and then I got cast in The 1940's Radio Hour as a Swing Kid and had my first brush with aerials. The other cast members brought me back out dancing and I continued dancing until I started dating a non-dancer. I then stopped going out dancing (hiatus #3) until some of my old dancer friends convinced me to sign up for a lindy-hop workshop. Since I was single again, I decided to go for it. That year, I went to Camp Hollywood for the first time and met some amazing friends who I still keep in touch with. Most recently, I went on a long hiatus and only started dancing again when I joined the One2Swing Jitterbugs last year. And I still shake my fist because everyone is awesome! Hiatuses from dancing are bad.
