Instructor Bio:
Without a doubt, Tommy Blacharz is one of the most talented dancers in the world. His unique style is defined by free form body movement and intricate musicality and he is constantly pushing the limits of swing as we know it. With over 12 years of dance experience, Tommy not only exudes expertise on the social dance floor, but he can clearly articulate the various element that make up his dancing. His classes are filled with fun, humor, good dance technique and most of all great dancing. His talents have been passed on to some of the top dancers in the world today and he is a major organizer/teacher in one of the strongest dance scenes in Europe, Montpellier, France. Recently Tommy took 1st place in ULHS Slow Division 2007 and is a key member of the newly found Ninjammerz Team. If you haven't already had the chance to let this man inspire you, it is one opportunity you would never want to miss!

When/where did you first start doing Lindy Hop?
in Montpellier, having party with friends & drinks.
Why did you first start doing Lindy Hop?
Because i loved the music & the complexity of it.
What is the size of your local Lindy community?
i would say 300 people, but only 100 hundred being at the dance every week...
How often do you go out dancing or take lessons?
Well, i teach mostly everyday & own the montpellier jazz night every friday in my club: the Apollo jazz Café
What is your favorite thing about Lindy Hop (both as an activity and as a community)?
Lindy hop is fun, it's healthy, the spirit of lindy hop has nothing to compare to the other dances... it gives me a plenty of happyness !

I own a restaurant, jazz, bar in montpellier: Apollo Jazz café

I like video games, sushis, macintosh, turntablism & surfboard. afterall, i need to say: i'm not gay. ;)
How has Lindy Hop changed your life?
i do travel the world now to share this passion... & teach people... when i'm back to my occupation... then i work in the club that make me thing that lindy hop turned totally my life into the Jazz. Thank you frankie ! now, i can't stop the lindy hop.
