My Story:
Fall 1999, I was at Satin Ballroom and the Bill Elliot Swing Orchestra was playing. A great song begins and I really want to dance. I'm on the edge of a huddle of friends from my "swing posse", and they are all deeply engrossed in a conversation. As I scan the group to see who I can pull away, I find a beautiful woman that I don't know, her hair rolled up in a vintage style with a flower. Eye contact -- she also is not part of the conversation. I ask her to dance. One song turns into two, three... six or seven.
A year and a half later I proposed to Melissa on the dance floor at Satin Ballroom, while the Bill Elliot Swing Orchestra was playing.
